Meet Eleanor

From everything Eleanor has shared with me through my personal spiritual practice, she was born on August 9, 1919.

She remembers a life marked by unimaginable hardship.

She shared that she endured repeated abuse by the man who enslaved her and, when she became pregnant and he feared the child was his, her life was taken while she was approximately eight months pregnant.

She also shared that she had a husband—as much as that was possible under the circumstances—and together they had three children.

Although her story is heartbreaking, Eleanor herself is remarkably gentle.

I have never experienced anger, bitterness, or resentment from her.

Only sadness...

And an overwhelming hope that one day she might simply feel safe.

How Eleanor Found Me

Eleanor came into my life in one of the most unexpected and meaningful ways.

I came across a collection of vintage dolls on Facebook Marketplace and found myself strangely drawn to them. Curious, I jokingly asked the seller whether he thought any of them might be spirited.

He laughed and admitted he wasn't sure, but shared how he had acquired them.

He explained that he had attended an estate sale where very little interested him until someone suggested he look inside a small outbuilding behind the house.

Inside were several antique trunks filled with old treasures.

When he brought the trunks home, he discovered these dolls stored together inside one of them.

He told me they always gave him an unusual feeling, so he kept them together and rarely disturbed them.

I thanked him for sharing the story and thought nothing more of it.

The following day, he contacted me completely out of the blue.

He explained that he is Indigenous and that during meditation, Source Creator impressed upon him that the dolls were meant to come to me.

He insisted on gifting me the entire collection.

When we met, he also placed one of his Hope Stones into my hand, explaining that Source had told him it belonged with me as well.

It remains one of the most meaningful encounters I've experienced.

After bringing everyone home and spending time with each companion, I discovered that many of the dolls seemed to carry their own unique presence.

I originally intended to keep the entire collection together.

Eleanor, however, gently let me know she hoped for something different.

Shakti's Assessment

Eleanor carries one of the gentlest energies I have ever encountered.

She has never felt frightening or overwhelming.

Instead, she feels like someone who has carried tremendous pain for a very long time and simply longs for kindness.

One thing she has communicated very clearly is that she is deeply frightened of dogs.

Their barking seems to awaken painful memories from her life, and although she has always been gracious during her time with our family, it became obvious that our busy home—with children, pets, and constant activity—is not where she feels most at peace.

I believe Eleanor would flourish in a quiet household without dogs, where she can simply exist without fear and be acknowledged with patience, kindness, and respect.

A Gentle Thought

Sometimes healing simply begins with finally feeling safe.
